How to View Image EXIF in 3 Steps

01

Choose an image

Drop or select a JPG, PNG, WebP, TIFF, HEIC/HEIF or AVIF file up to 50 MB.

02

Check key details

Look for camera, capture date, settings and GPS when those fields are present in the file.

03

Open each group

Read the remaining fields; check GPS before sharing or move to the metadata remover.

What do EXIF, GPS and other metadata tell you?

EXIF often records the device, date and camera settings; GPS may contain coordinates. XMP and IPTC may hold descriptions or authorship. These fields describe the file but do not prove where or by whom the image was taken.

Which images can be inspected?

JPG / PNG / WebP

Choose one image up to 50 MB. The viewer shows fields stored in the file, such as EXIF, GPS or descriptions; not every image contains all of these groups.

TIFF / HEIC / HEIF / AVIF

Readable fields can be inspected in files up to 50 MB. If parsing fails, try the original file; some format variants cannot be read.

Use the results to choose your next step

Want to review how the photo was taken?

Check the camera, lens, capture date and values such as ISO, aperture and shutter speed when present. Open the EXIF group for more; these fields can be edited and do not authenticate a photo.

About to post or send the image?

Check GPS and descriptive groups such as XMP/IPTC for location or authorship details. To create a cleaned copy, use Remove Image Metadata.

When EXIF or GPS is missing

No camera settings
The file may never have contained those fields, or metadata may have been removed during export, compression or sharing. Try the original file from the camera or phone; the viewer does not fill in missing data.
No GPS coordinates shown
The image may not contain location data, or its coordinates may not be in a readable form. Review other metadata groups before sharing; a missing GPS field does not establish where the photo was taken.

Where is the image read?

The viewer reads the file and its metadata in your browser without sending image content or GPS coordinates to an image-processing API. The page still uses general visit analytics.
