Internet download speed test
Select “Start test” to measure how fast data downloads to your device. View Mbps and an estimated time for a 10 MB download, then retest when your connection changes.
Measure download speed
One test downloads about 5 MB; upload and ping are not measured.

Test download speed in three steps
Pause other downloads
Pause other downloads and stay on the same network. Select “Start test”; the browser downloads about 5 MB of sample data.
Wait for the download
The progress bar shows how much sample data has arrived. If the server fails, the tool tries a fallback source when available.
Read Mbps and retest
Mbps means megabits per second of download throughput. The 10 MB time is estimated from the measured rate; retest to see whether results are consistent.
Understand the result before comparing
The Mbps value is the download rate from a test server to your browser during one roughly 5 MB transfer. It is not upload speed, ping or a promise for every app. The 10 MB time is calculated from that rate; real files and other servers may differ.
To compare two networks, use the same device, pause background downloads and test each network several times. ISP, IP and location details are separate reference data, not speed measurements.
If the result is low or unavailable
- Mbps varies a lot
- Check background transfers, Wi-Fi and other devices on the network; retest under similar conditions and compare the pattern.
- Cannot reach the test server
- Try again later or check the connection, firewall and blockers. Without a result, the tool cannot determine a speed.
- IP details are unavailable
- The lookup service may fail or the browser may not expose a connection type. You can still read Mbps if the sample download completes.
Data used during the test
When you start, your browser downloads sample data from Cloudflare; if that fails, it may use the KitoTool server. Connection details use IP lookup services to show your IP, ISP and approximate location. This is a download measurement at the time of the test.
