How to calculate and split a tip in 3 steps

Enter the amount on the bill

Select the currency shown on your bill and enter its amount. The currency changes display only; it does not convert exchange rates.

How the tip and each share are calculated

Tip = bill × tip percentage / 100. Without rounding, total = bill + tip; each share = total / people. For a bill of 100 with a 15% tip split four ways, the tip is 15, the total is 115 and each person pays 28.75.

Selecting a currency only changes the symbol and number display; the tool does not convert exchange rates. Enter the amount in the bill’s currency. JPY and VND display whole units, so check the original bill if the entered amount has a fraction.

If the amount does not match your bill

Check what is included in the entered bill. The selected tip percentage applies to the entire amount; the tool does not separate tax or service charges.
Invalid people count or bill amount
Enter a nonnegative bill and a whole number of people from 1 to 100. The tool stops calculating when an input is invalid.

Where is the calculation done?

The page calculates from your inputs in the browser tab; this tool does not send the bill amount to a tip calculation API. Use the result to check the actual bill.
