How to convert audio to MP3
Choose a source file
Choose or drop one file up to 100 MB. The tool checks for an audio track before enabling conversion.
Set the MP3 encoding level
Start with 192 kb/s; 128 kb/s is usually smaller and 320 kb/s usually larger. A higher setting cannot restore lost source detail.
Preview and download
Convert, preview the output, and download it. Open it in the app you plan to use to check compatibility.
Choose an MP3 bitrate for your task
128 kb/s
Use a smaller file for sharing or speech. Preview the result if the source contains detailed music.
192 kb/s
The default starting point for general music and audio; compare size and listen before sharing.
320 kb/s
Choose a higher target bitrate if a larger file is acceptable. It cannot turn a lossy source back into the original.
If the file cannot be read or exported
- An extension does not guarantee decoding
- WAV, OGG/OGA, FLAC, M4A, AAC, OPUS and MP3 can contain different codecs. Decoding depends on the browser/device; WMA, AIFF and AMR are unavailable here.
- No MP3 output
- Check for an audio track, try another WAV/MP3 file or browser, keep the tab open, and try a smaller file if memory is limited.
Data handling and output quality
This page reads and re-encodes audio with Mediabunny in your browser; its code does not send file contents to an KitoTool API. Output uses stereo 44.1 kHz at your selected bitrate. MP3 is lossy: increasing bitrate or re-encoding an MP3 cannot restore lost detail. Large files depend on device memory and processing power.
