How to convert an image

01

Choose one image from your device

Click Choose Image or drop a file. The tool detects JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, SVG, AVIF, BMP and HEIC/HEIF; some variants depend on browser support.

Choose an output format

What do you need?Choose in the toolCheck before using
An image that opens easily or a JPG-only destination Choose JPG; adjust Quality if needed. JPG uses lossy encoding and turns transparent areas white. Check text, edges and file size.
A logo or image needing transparency Choose PNG, or WebP if the destination accepts it. Check the background and edges. PNG may be larger than the source and cannot restore lost detail.
A different format for a website Try WebP or AVIF if the destination supports it; adjust Quality if needed. Compare actual size and clarity. Changing format does not guarantee a smaller file.
Need different pixels or a KB/MB limit Choose the tool for that task: Image Resizer or Image Compressor. This tool keeps pixel dimensions and has no target-size input.

Output and limits to know

Animated GIF and SVG

An animated GIF input is reduced to one frame; GIF output is also still. SVG output wraps PNG pixels and does not turn a raster image into vectors.

HEIC, dimensions and metadata

HEIC/HEIF is decoded before conversion; a Live Photo’s paired video is not included. The tool processes one image at a time, keeps pixel dimensions, and may not retain EXIF, GPS or color profiles.

If the converted image is not right

Transparency is lost
JPG and GIF output use a white background. Choose PNG or WebP and recheck transparent areas.
The file is larger or less clear
Compare actual file sizes; try another Quality setting for JPG/WebP/AVIF. PNG does not automatically reduce size or recover source detail.
HEIC will not open or AVIF fails
The file may use an unsupported variant or the browser may lack the required decoder or encoder. Try an updated browser or choose JPG/PNG/WebP when suitable.

Conversion in your browser

The image is read and the output file is created in your browser; this conversion workflow does not need to send image contents to KitoTool servers. Check the downloaded file before use, especially if metadata or precise color matters.
