How to take online notes with Notepad
Open, write and autosave
Choose New note, enter a title and start writing. Pin, duplicate or move notes to trash using the controls above. The sidebar searches titles and content. Close the tab after saving is confirmed; if saving fails, download a backup.
Choose a mode and text tools
Plain Text preserves characters and whitespace; Rich Text adds headings, checklists, tables and links. Paste as plain text strips Word, website and email formatting. Ctrl/Cmd+F opens find and replace; text tools apply to the selection or the whole note.
Create a snapshot link
Choose Share, set an expiry of 1, 7 or 30 days and create a link. Only the open note is sent to the server. Anyone with the link can view and save a copy; later changes do not update it. Reopen Share in this browser to revoke the link.
Take your data with you
Export TXT, Markdown or HTML, or use Print / Save PDF. Back up all notes creates JSON including trash. Preview a backup before merging or replacing; replacement first downloads a current backup.
Export files and restore backups
Open and export note files
Open UTF-8 TXT, Markdown or HTML. Markdown opens as plain text; HTML is sanitized before opening in Rich Text. Export TXT, .md or HTML, or use Print / Save PDF. Vietnamese characters are preserved; invalid export filename characters are replaced with underscores.
Back up and restore all notes
Back up all notes creates one JSON file, including trash. Preview an import before choosing merge or replacement. Merge keeps both copies when IDs match; replacement downloads a current backup before writing new data.
Word files and complex formatting
Notepad does not yet import or export DOCX. Merged table cells and complex formatting may change when exporting Markdown; check the file before using it. For Word files, continue with the tool below.
Online Word editorWhere is your data stored?
By default, notes and drafts stay on your device: IndexedDB stores notes; localStorage stores recovery drafts, preferences and share revocation keys. There is no account sync or AI API; the page loads no advertising or usage analytics scripts.
Only when you choose Create link are the title, mode and content of the open note sent to KitoTool as a snapshot lasting 1, 7 or 30 days. Anyone with the link can view, download or save a copy. Revocation stops access through the link but cannot remove copies already saved by recipients. Shared snapshots are not end-to-end encrypted.
Your browser still requests the page, app assets and offline cache from KitoTool. File export creates a copy on your device; Print / Save PDF uses your browser’s print interface. Notes are not separately password-encrypted by the app.
Notes belong to this browser and website address and do not automatically move to another device. Clearing site data, private browsing or browser storage eviction may remove them. Back up to JSON regularly. Treat changes as saved only when “Saved on this device” appears; on failure, download a backup before closing the tab.
Once “Offline ready” appears, you can reopen Notepad without a network at the same address. Installation requires HTTPS or localhost and a supported browser; in Safari use Share → Add to Home Screen.
