How to Sign a PDF Online
Choose a PDF
Drag in or select the PDF you want to sign from your device.
Draw, Type, or Upload a Signature
Choose a method and select Use this signature.
Place the Signature and Download
Choose a page, click to place the signature, move or resize it, then download a new PDF.
Choose how to create your signature
All three methods make a visible signature image for the PDF. Choose what you have available, then inspect the mark on the page before downloading.
| You have | Use in the tool | Check before download |
|---|---|---|
| A mouse, stylus or touch screen | Choose Draw, make your mark, then select Use this signature. | Inspect the stroke and its size on the PDF page. |
| A name to display | Choose Type, enter the name and text style, then confirm. | Read the name again and inspect its style after placement. |
| An existing signature image | Choose Upload image and use a PNG, JPG or WebP up to 10 MB. | Check whether the image background covers PDF text; transparent PNG is usually easier to place. |

Right page and placement
Open the downloaded file, review every signed page and check that the mark does not cover names, dates or form fields. Return to the tool to move, resize or delete a selected mark if needed.
The signature type the recipient needs
The output contains a visible signature image; this tool does not verify identity or create a certificate-based digital signature. If the workflow requires digital signing, use an appropriate signing service before sending.
If placement or export fails
- The PDF is password protected or will not open
- Try the file in a PDF reader. If you know the password, unlock it with PDF Password and select the unlocked copy for signing.
- The signature image has a white background or looks wrong
- Use a transparent PNG if available, or choose Draw. Inspect the placed mark because the source image is added as an image.
- Download says no signature was placed
- Select Use this signature, then click a PDF page to place at least one mark. Choose another page from the page list if needed.
- The file is large or export fails
- Use one PDF up to 50 MB and 100 pages; close other tabs if memory is limited. Keep a connection to load the processing libraries, then retry with the original PDF.
Where are the PDF and signature processed?
The tool reads the PDF, creates the signature image and exports a new PDF in the browser; this flow does not send file contents to an KitoTool signing API. The page still loads libraries from a CDN and sends general page analytics. The original file on your device is not changed.
