How to minify CSS or JavaScript
Choose a tab or file
Choose the CSS or JavaScript tab and paste code, or select one .css/.js file up to 5 MB to open its matching tab.
Minify and compare sizes
Click Minify CSS or Minify JavaScript. Compare the before and after sizes; already compact code may not get smaller.
Check, then copy or download
Keep the original and test the resulting styles or scripts before using them. Then copy or download the .min.css/.min.js file.
Check the code after minifying
This tool removes comments and whitespace using simple rules. It does not validate syntax or guarantee unchanged CSS or JavaScript behavior. Keep the original and test the resulting styles or scripts before using them on a website.
If the result is not as expected
Size did not decrease
Compare the before and after sizes. Compact code may have little whitespace to remove. Use the original if the result is larger.
Styles or scripts behave differently
Return to the original. For complex syntax, use a parser-based minifier in your build process and rerun your tests.
File cannot be opened
Choose one .css or .js file up to 5 MB at a time. For larger files, use your project build tool.
Where is the code processed?
Minification reads your code or file in the browser and creates the download there. This tool does not upload the code to KitoTool for minification.
